The other main region of Brazil that is ideal for the adventure tourist is the Pantanal. It is South America's main wildlife sanctuary and is one of the largest continuous wetlands on Earth. Most of Brazil's main rivers begin in the Pantanal. Travel with local guides by foot, horseback, canoe and truck to see a rich landscape and a range of creatures up close. Colourful parrots will greet you from the jungle and the other wildlife you encounter will include river otters, caimans, monkeys, jaguars, anacondas and a huge range of exotic bird life.
